I opened The Collective because Boulder, CO lacked an outlet where the artistically inclined subcultures of the region (music, visual arts etc.) could express themselves. I wanted to provide a space where members of the independent culture have a way to bring their creative work to the public.
I had the only 1950's Black and White photobooth in the area.
I started with a very raw storefront and the best part of the experience was the transformation into something that was once in my imagination. There were obviously challenges to running a business in my early twenties - but it was the best education I could have gotten at the time, and if the opportunity were to arise again- I would do it in a heartbeat!
